Do you fart in public?

July 27th, 2007

First off, try not too. It’s an unpleasant habit that can do you more harm than good (usually) especially if you’re somewhere on business.

Ok, now to the whole point of this post… Continue reading…

Social Bookmarking really works - My Secret to Stumble Upon Success

July 23rd, 2007

This might be considered as a follow up to my last post (about stumbling) but it’s not really. I just felt compelled to share my latest experiences with a few popular “social web” services.

First let me start by saying that I’ve generally underused these services in the past. I always found out about them early but never took advantage. This was partly to thinking I didn’t have the time to “mess around” with them, was lazy or felt my content simply didn’t fit into the picture. I was wrong to think those things. Continue reading…

Stumble Upon a Good Website Lately?

July 21st, 2007

Well you should! Start spreading the love people!

As I’m sure most of you already know, Stumble Upon is a new take on an old (kinda) idea… it’s like social bookmarking only way more pro-active and involved. Actually its also kind of like a traffic exchange but not really like a traffic exchange! Continue reading…

A thought on social bookmarks and building traffic

July 12th, 2007

Today, like most days while reading through a couple webmaster forums I came across several threads where people are basically asking the same question: How to build traffic? Some of these people take it a step further and ask: How to build massive free traffic, fast!?

Invariably the answer is the same, Digg, StumbleUpon, SlashDot, Social Bookmarks!

Now it doesn’t really bother me seeing those questions or answers every day… after all, people really do want to build traffic and don’t know where to start. I can’t blame them for turning to their colleagues, I often do.

Back to the topic; I find myself a little surprised that people are missing the whole point of social networks and the Continue reading…

Update Services – My Ping List

July 9th, 2007

Alright then, you’ve setup your new blog (or decided to work on your old one) and you’re ready to get posting; adding content and charging into the blogsphere. The problem is, if you’re not letting people know about that new content, how will it get seen?

Don’t rely solely on SEO tactics or your forum signature for exposure. Update services are a great way to let the world know about your new blog posts. They’re not the final word in blog marketing, far from it… but there’s nothing easier than keeping a good list and letting your blog software automatically send pings whenever you Continue reading…

Niche Hunt

July 9th, 2007

Most of you have already faced this problem… some have come out of it with a great list of prospects, others with a headache.

So what’s the best way to approach this unique problem? How do you choose the right niche?

Well a lot of it has to do with you as a person. Is there something in particular that you have a strong (or even moderate) passion for? A hobby? Maybe an ex-job or career you left behind long ago?

Those are all great places to start. More likely than not you will have some useful knowledge on the topic that others Continue reading…

Here we go!

July 3rd, 2007

Finally, after at least a YEAR of putting off starting this site (just a personal site in general, not necessarily this domain), I sat my fat lazy ass down and installed WordPress on this domain.

So what’s so special about this website? Well nothing… not yet anyhow. I hope my laziness won’t kill this project before it even leaves the ground but in short, I hope to turn this website into a sort of central bookmark for webmaster resources.

Not to say that I’m going to compete with the millions of other similar websites… I’m not. I intend to highlight, bookmark and share the resources I use for my own work. I really don’t care what other’s are putting up on their resource sites. I don’t care because if it’s not on mine, that means that I’m not using it.
